How to install Acronis vmProtect 9 as Virtual Appliance or as Windows Agent

Introduction There are two ways to install Acronis vmProtect 9: the software can be installed directly on ESX(i) host as a virtual appliance or Acronis vmProtect Windows Agent can be installed on a physical Windows machine outside the ESX(i) infrastructure
Solution Acronis vmProtect 9 can be installed directly on ESX(i) host. In this case the software for running Acronis services is installed on a separate virtual machine under a specially customized operating system.
Installing Acronis vmProtect 9 as Virtual Appliance on an ESX(i) host Run Acronis vmProtect 9 installation file and press Install Acronis vmProtect as Virtual Appliance on an ESX(i) host:
If you accept the license agreement, click I accept this agreement and Next; Specify the desired ESX(i) server or vCenter access credentials: IP address or hostname, your user name and access password:
When you click Next, the installer will automatically check the connection and go through the authorization procedure. Set your Appliance (VM) name, choose the ESX(i) host and datastore as a target for deploying the Acronis vmProtect software. The Appliance name should be unique within the ESX(i) host. If you set the vCenter and its credentials on the previous installation step, you have to choose one of the ESX(i) hosts contained in that vCenter from the respective drop-down list:
Virtual appliance can acquire network settings automatically. If you need to set specific options, you can unmark Auto configuration and set the options manually: Select whether you would like to be a part of Acronis Customer Experience Program (ACEP) and click Next ; Review the installation settings on the summary screen and click Install :
After the deployment process is finished and all components deployed, you will get the Deployment has been complet ed page. Here, select the check box if you wish to run the Acronis vmProtect Web Console (it will be opened in the default Internet browser) to connect to your newly deployed Acronis vmProtect Virtual Appliance. Then click Close.
The default login:password for the Acronis vmProtect Web Console is admin:root .
If running the virtual appliances is not desirable because of heavy load of ESX(i) hosts or for a different reason, you can install Acronis vmProtect Windows Agent on a physical machine outside the ESX(i) infrastructure.

Run Acronis vmProtect 9 installation file and press Install Acronis vmProtect as Windows Agent:
If you accept the license agreement, click I accept this agreement and Next; Specify credentials for Acronis services: you should provide the credentials of any Windows user which has Log on locally permissions on the machine with the Agent installed. It is recommended to use an existing account from Administrators , Power Users or Users group:
Specify the HTTPs port for access to Acronis web console page or leave the default 9877 port:
You can check the availability of this port by pressing Check port:
Select the location for installing the software or leave the default value; Select whether you would like to be a part of Acronis Customer Experience Program (ACEP) and click Next; Review the installation settings and click Proceed:
